Neeeed to Shoot [A Perfect Sonnet]

It’s driving me crazy really. Spent two years shooting every single day. I haven’t shot (with thought) in months.

Perhaps you’d like to model for me?

It all has to do with inspiration. For almost a year I lived in a basement… no sunlight, no breeze, no oxygen really.  No sweat. We’re above ground again… and the future holds exciting things.

I want to dress you up and paint your face… then take you into the rain with an Octo and a bounce.

Sounds romantic, doesn’t it?

It looks romantic in my mind.

There is nothing

as lucky

as easy

or free

I’m moving down to London in a few weeks.
I’m excited, a bit nervous, but I feel good about it.
No clue what I’ll do once I get there… but new scenes, new faces…
First decision I’ve made in awhile that feels it has a lot of potential.
And it doesn’t have to be forever.

Anyway! Ramble ramble.
Let’s go shoot.

The End is Near

School is almost over. Two years have gone by very quickly… and have been full of ups and downs, both in which have helped me grow as a person, and as a photographer.

It’s hard to believe how much I know now compared to the beginning of the journey.

“How much really is there to know about taking pictures?”

A lot.

I’m so glad I invested in the program… I have no regrets and only positive thoughts for my future.

My personal and homemade website should be going up soon. I just need to purchase a domain and hosting, and then it will be uploaded for the world to see. I’m excited for that launch… I’m pretty proud of the outcome of it.

Stay tuned :) and keep visiting my blog for random daily posts…. many more to come this summer…

Snapbird | Website Design

Photography Tab

A screen snap of my website… hangin on the Photography tab. I have a few tabs, for the different types of art I love to do….

Photography
Fine Art
Digital Art

I can’t wait for it to be up! I purchased SlideshowPro… but then realized the version I bought wasn’t compatible with the version of FlashCS4 I made my entire site in. Hopefully it won’t take long to put it all together again. I made most of it in Photoshop, so the actual design of it won’t need to be redone… but man those buttons are time consuming hahah.

It’s also being published next to “Ethiobirds” and “Spar-Ohs” by my favourite Andrew Bird <3

I’ll be sure to post the site link as soon as it’s up!

I decided I wanted to add in one of my favourite Bible verses… so that when people pick up my card, they automatically know what I’m about.

“Whatever you do, do it with all your heart, for you are working for the Lord, not for man.” Col. 3:23

My card is an exact replica of my website… which I think brings it all together and keeps the business recognizable. Excited to print them up, and publish my website.

Purchasing a domain in the next few days!

Born Into Brothels

Born Into Brothels

Born Into Brothels

Today I decided not to post my own picture, but post a picture that has inspired me.

I watched a very good documentary tonight called ‘Born Into Brothels’ by Zana Briski.

Imagine the world of prostitution through the eyes of a child.

Zana Briski finds these children, gives them cameras and teaches them how to compose.

Incredible.

This is an image taken by one of those children.

Celtic | Sunset

An old cemetery in Picton, ON. A couple of friends and I went for a walk through there one evening while we were exploring the tiny town. It was probably the coolest cemetery I’ve ever been in… very old with large trees and many stones. The farther we walked, the higher we got apparently, because when we got to the end of the path there was a cliff where you could look down and see the whole town. Could have been totally romantic… but alas it was only rotic :)

I love looking at the sky. It’s one of those things in life that you can always count on to be consistently beautiful. I have a few very good memories of watching the sky with friends. Satellite gazing. This particular night I was with a few friends out in Picton somewhere. Every few moments the colours and patterns were different. It was pretty. I miss that night, and those friends. C’est tres beau ca :)

2010 | New Year

It’s a brand new year!

And the blog has a new look! haha except that it’s still just a random template I got off WordPress. I’m still working on my personal portfolio website…. that should be coming online soon!!

My fourth semester is starting up in just over a week, and I’m stoked! I have high hopes for my final semester, and lots of ambition!

I’m hoping to shoot a lot more 35mm this year, both in studio and freelance and environmental as well. It’s time to start building my portfolio and get ready for whatever happens come April!!

Also, I’m turning my ‘Art’ tab into my shot of the day tab. My goal is to post one picture a day for the next year! I did this over the summer on a different blog and it was a lot of fun… most of the time just throwing up a random picture off my cellphone or a silly shot with my point and shoot… but it definitely kept my eyes open for interesting images, and really stretched my mind. I’m excited for this!!

Thanks for all the support this far!!
